The 34th FIHAV saw participation of 3,500 companies from 75 countries and was held at the Expocuba Fair Ground from October 31-November 4, 2016. Representatives from East Caribbean Group of companies (ECGC) featured  JuC  Soft drinks and offered tasting samples to other companies/exhibitors and the general public.  ECGC also had a display of their packaging for flour and information regarding other products produced by the company.  Ms. Haslam of ECGC noted that the experience was indeed a good one for the company, lots of contacts were made and it was now necessary to do the follow up work.

The other company which participated was East Caribbean Metals, a Campden Park based company which specializes in building materials.  Mr. Persaud owner of the company also indicated his satisfaction at attending the fair and expressed a willing to participate in FIHAV 2017.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, his Excellence Ellsworth I. A. John indicated that he felt that this was a good first step in gaining access not only to the Cuban market, but to Latin America as a whole. He however cautioned that sometimes its only after repeat participation that countries start taking exhibitors seriously. He said he was looking forward to even greater participation next year.

The participation of these two companies was facilitated in part by the OECS Commission and the OECS Ambassadors’ Corp in Cuba, with funding from the European Union.  Special recognition was given to the OECS for participating as one entity, at the Closing held which was held on November 4, 2016 at the Convention Centre in Havana.

The other OECS countries which participated were Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Kitts and Nevis.
